Analogue interconnects: NEXUS AUDIO connecting my DVD player to the receiver, and between the receiver and my Parasound power amp. And from the receiver to the NAD amp that power ut the surrounds I use Monster M350i. Some old Taralabs cables are used in the 5.1 analoge connection from the dvd player to the receiver. Digital cables: Yi Feng between my Denon DVD og receiver, Monster between Argon DVD and receiver
Picture cables: NEXUS AUDIO High End component cable to the projector, Monster scart cable connecting the Denon DVD and the TV, noname scart cable between Argon DVD and TV.
Soundcare spikes are used on the mains. (I recommend using spikes on these loudspeakers to tighten the bass)
Ordinary steel spikes are used under the stands for the surrounds.
About the setup:
Audio Pro together with the Marantz has a crisp and detailed sound, and almost every type of music sounds good. But the system can sound a little too hard when I play rock music/heavy music.
The power amplifiers gives the Marantz an easy task with just one center to control. The system has a good punch in the deepest bass, thanks to the inbuilt subwoofers in the mains (150 Watts). The mains are a little weak in the midbass area, so I have chosen to use my sub in addition to improve the overall bass performance. It works very well.
Parasound A21 is my latest upgrade, this amplifier is simply fantastic! I know I don't really need all the power, but boy does it sound good with perfect control! I bought the system in 2003 and I have kept upgrading and tweaking it since, and will continue to do so as long as my wallet can handle the task!... :-) Not because I'm not happy, it's just a part of the hobby!
The screen is actually a shade, but works quite well! I attached it to the roof in a position where I can lower it down just in front of my TV. This way it dosen't dominte the living room. Even my wife has accepted it, althought the screen itself does not give me a high WAF, it just dosen't attract attention to itself (when not used that is...)
Further plans now include buying a house and building a separate room dedicated to music and movies, I can't wait!
